- the market leader stays leader unless they're asleep when the consumer's world changes
- traditional marketing by nos. 1, 2, 3 is defensive, keeping the SOV barriers high
- it takes a challenger to disrupt: by NOT playing the SOV / SOM game, and instead innovating with conviction
